Digging out of the saves folder
How to organize hundreds of saved Reels
Everyone has the folder. Four hundred saved videos, no structure, and a quiet suspicion that some of them were genuinely good.

How to organize saved Reels and TikToks
Stop sorting by video
The folder is unsortable because a video is the wrong unit. What you actually want out of it is places, dates and ideas, so extract those instead of trying to file the videos.
Work backwards from your next trip
Do not process four hundred saves. Pick the city you are going to next and pull only the ones that belong to it. The rest can wait.
Share the good ones out
Send each keeper to Dream Trip from the share sheet. The place gets extracted and pinned, and the original video stays linked to it.
Let the map do the sorting
Once places are on a map, grouping is automatic. Everything in one neighbourhood is visibly in one neighbourhood.
Save forward, not in batches
The folder only rebuilt itself because saving was easier than filing. Once filing is one tap from the share sheet, it stops piling up.
Why the folder gets away from you
Saving costs one tap. Retrieving costs ten minutes of scrolling. Any system with that ratio ends up as a landfill, no matter how organised you are about everything else.
The fix is not more discipline. It is making retrieval as cheap as saving, which means getting the content out of a video list and onto something with structure.
Do not try to process the whole backlog
People bounce off this because they try to sort four hundred saves in one sitting. Do the next trip only. Twenty minutes gets you a usable map for the city you are actually going to, and the backlog stops being a debt you owe yourself.
Places, not videos
Once you think in places rather than videos, the folder problem mostly dissolves. A place has a location, a category and a neighbourhood. Those sort themselves. A video has a thumbnail and a caption, and those sort into nothing.
Common questions
How do I organize hundreds of saved TikToks?
Do not organize the videos. Extract the places out of them, because places sort themselves on a map by location and neighbourhood while videos do not sort at all. Start with the city you are travelling to next rather than the whole backlog.
Can I bulk import my saves folder?
There is no bulk import from TikTok or Instagram, because neither platform exposes your saves to other apps. Sharing them individually from the share sheet is the available route, which is why working trip by trip rather than all at once is the sane approach.
Will I lose the original video?
No. Each saved place keeps a link back to the post it came from.
Try it on your next trip
Share one video and see where it lands. That is usually enough to know whether this fixes your saves folder.
