How to save a place from TikTok to a map

   Find the video

   Open the TikTok with the place you want to keep. It works whether the creator tagged the location or just said the name out loud in the video.

   Tap Share, then Dream Trip

   Use TikTok's own share sheet and pick Dream Trip. You do not need to copy a link, write down a name, or leave the app you are already in.

Why the saves folder does not work

TikTok's own saves folder is a video list, not a travel tool. It has no map, no way to group by city, and no way to tell you that four of the places you saved last year are a ten minute walk from where you are standing right now.

So the saved video sits there. When the trip finally happens you either scroll for twenty minutes trying to find it, or you give up and eat wherever is closest. Neither of those is what you meant to happen when you tapped save.

What actually gets extracted

The useful part is not the pin, it is the context. Dream Trip keeps the name of the place, what kind of place it is, roughly where it sits, and a link back to the original video.

That last piece matters more than people expect. Six months later, a pin called Bar Brutal tells you nothing. The video tells you the creator said to go on a Tuesday and order the vermouth.

It is not only TikTok

The same share sheet flow works from Instagram Reels, Google Maps links, and plain web pages. Most people's travel ideas arrive from more than one place, so the capture net has to be wider than one app.
